Abandon Blog!

Yeah, I just don't feel like posting anymore. I'm still working, I'm beginning work on a dungeon.  maybe I'll return later, if I feel like it.

2 - More Town, Bridge and Early Ruins

The title pretty much says it all. Today I started off with adding more to the town:

 I added a house, a general shop, and a barracks located along the new back wall. I also extended the front gate to become a wall over the walkway into town.  There are now 2 entrances: one at the back and one leading to the new bridge over to the next island (62 blocks long):

 If you look closely into the top left corner of the bridge screenshot, you can see the beginnings of a ruin that I built. the idea was to experiment with making decaying ruins using mossy and cracked bricks and cobble, as well as soil and vines.  I think it turned out pretty well;

The view from the inside looking up and out, due to the fact that half the top tower is missing

Some stairs lead down to this cave-ish ruin, which will probably move into a deeper dungeon-esque cave system.  The cave with water is actually a natural cave that leads out to the ocean.

1 - The Experiment

So i've decided to make a blog. This is meant more as a tool for myself than sharing with the internet, but of course, that doesn't mean the internet is not allowed in. This is my first experience making a blog, but I believe in the idea that blogs should have a purpose other than to catalog daily events that happen to everyone. So, this blog is meant for me to record progress on a project I decided to start, but also keep.

One thing you have to know: If you do not know what Minecraft is, or do not like it, please leave now. Thank you. This blog is about a project which i have conceived continuously over the past year since I've been playing the game.  I have always wanted to make a large RPG-Style world, filled with towns, ruins, and other settlements and structures of all kinds, along with some cool Terra-forming.  unfortunately, i have a very bad habit of abandoning projects that i've started for various reasons.  Never before have I completed a full project that is epic enough to my liking.  So, this blog should act as a tool to help me stay on target with my goal.

Why might the internet like what I'm doing? Well, i have plans.  I've played in servers with friends before and they and other people have complimented and admired the aesthetic appeal of some of my structures, and i have shared some of my works on the Minecraft forums, though not often.  I hope the internet might get to see some cool stuff, should anybody find my whispering voice underneath the piles of Minecraft user-content and junk already cluttering the servers of the World Wide Web.

Without further ado, The Beginning:

I whipped up a quick town in 2-3 hours as a spawn-ish village. World Spawn is located right in front of the house the camera is facing in the 3rd photo. Consisting of 6 buildings (2 one floor houses, 1 double-story house, and Inn, a fishery warehouse, and a watchtower), this small village is perfect for a peaceful, quaint, Oceanside settlement.  I plan to expand roads outwards from it to the east and west, to whatever vastness lies ahead.  Additionally, the waterfront is about 20 - 30 blocks to an island which i want to make a nice bridge to, probably next time I get the chance to play again.

As I said, this is my first time doing any of this blogging or sharing of my work, so feel free to comment, and stuff. Also, if you've read this far, I commend you for taking the time to read my little blog!
